Michael Patrick Murphy's specific goals for Rocklin's Council include:

  1. An automatic email of the meeting minutes to constituents that request it.
  2. An automatic subscription to Rocklin's Calendar that also works on Macintosh computers.
  3. A webpage demonstrating the Council's voting record. (Refused by by the Rocklin Council)
  4. City elected officials' Campaign contributions posted on the Internet. (More Transparency in general)
  5. A stoppage of policies that discriminate in favor of public employees, such as expensive funerals for public officials.
  6. An end to so-called condemnation, imminent domain redevelopment programs, especially those that risk demolishing local resident homes and businesses.
  7. An end of spending on local "pork." Such spending is done to garner votes for the incumbents with our taxpayers money. These are often politically motivated donations to what might be otherwise worthy causes, but tending to discriminate against the competition for such causes.
  8. End Rocklin's many socialist tendencies by limiting spending to basic fiduciary responsibilities such as police, fire, roads and minor public buildings. Redistribution of massive taxes is currently in vogue. This is an outrage during wartime when residents are under increasing financial pressures.
  9. Future City Council Members should be non-partisan and I would hope would be registered non-partisan and should limit campaign contributions to a limited amount from residents and not from political parties, their PACs, business or other special interests. This will prevent future "ownership" of the City Council by developers and other special interests. A private citizens committee should consider monitoring the Council's private investments that may construe a conflict of interest.
  10. Increase the effectiveness and life support systems of the Rocklin Fire department by hiring or using more fire fighters and more paramedics verses emergency medical technicians. This will prevent home burn downs and deaths due to lack of qualifications and/or fire department staff. Rocklin is a big City with far more people than San Francisco had in 1849! We currently have three understaffed fire houses.
