Is Congressional District 4 Waking Up?

...McClintock beats Ose - 98 Falls to 99.

6/5/08 by Michael Patrick Murphy a registered "Decline to State" voter.

I had to clear my eyes. Could it be that Congressional District 4 voters nominated McClintock over Doug Ose? That's so uncharacteristic of them. After all, the "cabal" was behind the real estate developer Doug Ose. He got endorsements from most if not all of the developer's cabal members including County Supervisors, the Sheriff and Rocklin's City Council. Ose had signs everywhere! The cabal, indirectly using our tax dollars, spent a fortune to get Doug Ose elected. Could the voters be getting a brain?

I'm not sure what happened, and though I have serious problems with Tom McClintock and would have preferred the ideals of Ted Terbolizard and the heart of Suzanne Jones, McClintock is far less the political prostitute that Doug Ose is. Voters finally did better on this one. However, I think Placer County voters still screwed up on the propositions by not understanding the relationship between eminent domain and rent control. Rent control can lead to blight and condemnation. Condemnation is the first step towards a government taking private property and then, over time, giving it to another private property developer. There is a large unethical trend, promoted by the Rocklin City Council and Placer County Supervisors, and used by the Clover Valley developers, to pretend to be the group not supporting itself. Folks are easily fooled when they can't or don't read the propositions, thinking that the bad guys are really the good guys. This is the case of Proposition 99 where conservatives seemed to think that Proposition 98 would be the one to throw senior citizens onto the streets or into their back yards.

All in all, I know that the District voters are still political virgins barely finding the entrance to Plato's cave. They need to become much better informed before voting. They need to understand that registered "R's" are not necessarily Republicans, especially in Placer County. To that end, I plan to keep writing here in the nonpartisan hope that I can help the voters make better decisions for themselves and their posterity. Yes, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The current economy is proof of that. Rocklin voters need to understand that "free" comes at many different price points with all kinds of creative financing that you'll arrange for you kids to pay back for you. If you haven't done so already, your first step should be to register as an independent "DTS" Decline to State voter. You'll become the party of you , yourself and you voting for the best candidate for the job and not blindly voting for someone because you think they are a Republican. DTS is the fastest growing registration group in California. Independents are gaining registrations throughout the United States. If George Washington were alive today, he would be very, very happy with your decision.

Last night, I drove by the same dead skunk lying in a heap smack dab in the middle of Stanford Ranch Road by Rocklin High School. It had been there since Saturday morning. That's three complete days now and nobody's done anything about it. I suppose that's Rocklin for you. What smells is right under your nose but you don't lift a finger. After all, I was on my way to Blockbuster to pick up another Battlestar Galactica DVD. Today, I'll go by that dead skunk and point it out to drivers as they drive by. Let's see if someone calls it in because some lunatic is standing next to it in the middle of the road! You'd think with cell phones, this would be easy. One call to a Rocklin councilman/woman/person and it would be taken care of. Am I the only one that knows this?

That poor dead skunk, though well deserved by Rocklin's sleepy community, is the least of the stench that citizens, in their apathy and ignorance, haven't taken care of. Today's election day and I predict a slam dunk for the political prostitute, Doug Ose, the darling of the county cabal and designated heir to John Doolittle, political prostitute extraordinaire and anointed Prince and ruler of all things Placer . Those Rocklinites that bother to vote at all are ignorant enough to keep the cabal in power at their own continued expense, assuming that the "R" in front of the names is somehow connected to conservatism. The cabal is still owned by developers despite recent plummeting prices on land and improvements, a debacle that the County and City has made much worse through their own greed. Remember, that the quid-pro-quo situation here involves the local newspapers, William Jessup University and local monster churches, the Chamber of Commerce, the County Supervisors and our own Rocklin City Council. They are all on the take, directly or indirectly. Rocklinites should be outraged! The waste and socialism should scare the heck out of them. Still, they continue read the local Brehm communications newspapers that give William Jessup and the Chamber of Commerce their own column (as long as they continue to write on behalf of the cabal) and against the people of Rocklin and Placer County who are not informed enough to know that they've been duped again.

Such is the political life of Rocklin, where most voters don't even know who sits on their city council, let alone where their campaign money came from or what they did with our money after they were elected. The residents will prove again that they are indeed only sheep, lemmings and ostriches taking sides in a war between a Republican (in name only) majority and a Democratic minority that doesn't ever have a snowball's chance in hell. Few know enough to register "Decline to State" or how to improve their city. As City Councilman and political prostitute Peter Hill once informed me, "few care."

The Rocklin Cabal

Cabal - A number of persons united in some close design, usually to promote their private views and interests in church or
state by intrigue; a secret association composed of a few designing persons; a junto. [1913 Webster]

Look out, I'm on fire now!

First, let me get this out of the way. Thank you Placer Herald for publishing my opinion in the May 1st edition.

Now, let's get to what's got MY britches burning. On either side of my article was a Rocklin City Council (RCC) "Person" spouting off their support for Doug Ose, the District 3 Developer running for our District 4 Congressional opening being vacated by John Doolittle. Then there was the Herald recusing itself from Jack Schwab's opinion that the City of Rocklin took bribes from developers and special interest groups. (I like to say that a lot of sleepy uninformed Republicans and Democrats live in our developer-owned communist county.)

Then I read that the "Big Money" backed Rocklin Chamber of Commerce and their "quid pro quo" City Council were well represented on the 38th Annual Capitol-to-Capitol Trip to Washington DC. (Remember, this is the same Chamber that was given a $1 per month lease by the other RCC and Robin Trimble, the Chamber's CEO, has yet to apologize for the Doolittle Brown debates they sponsored where the other candidates were not even invited!) They all got cozy about how they could widen freeways (so that the developers can continue to expand their holdings in Placer County. They all want to raise your taxes to pay for this developer benefit.) I like to say that when you call your place "the city of..." you immediately have visions of Los Angeles and New York. Is that what the people of Rocklin want or is that what the developers want? I look forward to skyscrapers here eventually. As long as developers own our City and County politicians, from Rockholm and Weygandt to Hill and Storey, those on fixed incomes will simply have to move somewhere between Reno and Salt Lake City.

Now of course, as all big cities do, the City of Rocklin, run by the same folks as always, has now overspent its wad and must tap its reserves. This is the same City that was warned by me, in 2004, that it was headed for trouble. Of course they didn't listen to me, any more than the County did, when it went ahead with the Highway 80/Rocklin Road interchange "fake rocks" and their further edification of themselves through the creation of an unnecessary Downtown Rocklin. While most of us are watching our spending and not seeing pay increases, the Council gave City workers raises. To pay for all this, the City is raising city fees (and creating new ones) like fees for having an alarm system or for owning a restaurant. (They already charged my sole proprietorship, The Small Businessman $160 for an occupancy fee even though I work out of my home.) It doesn't even seem politically savvy that the cabal has the wisdom to do this while burglaries are going up and restaurants are being hit with higher costs and fewer customers. Is the City and County so hard up for cash that it is willing to jeopardize its own political supremacy? Ironically, these fees are increasing on "we the people" as Roseville is "deferring" its fees for developers building single family homes, thereby increasing inventory when there are the fewest per capita customers in 20 years! The last group we should be helping is the developers. It's only a matter of minutes until Rocklin starts to help the Cabal at the expense of "we the people."

I love the way the Rocklin City Council and the Placer County Supervisors use their non-partisan offices to endorse partisan candidates, like Doug Ose, who advertises himself as a "tax fighter." If he's a tax-fighter then I'm a communist. As a past chair for the PC Libertarians, you know that the last thing I am is a communist. I'll let you figure out the rest of it. If you think I'm smoking something, why don't you check out where Ose's money is coming from at www.opensecrets.org's site. The following is a work in progress so stay tuned as I identify the role each group plays in our current misfortunes and what can be done to fix the problems.

LET'S IDENTIFY THE PLAYERS AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM

THE POLITICIANS

The actions of our politicians are a direct byproduct of the inactions of "we the people." Most of us don't know who our politicians are. Therefore, it is reasonable to understand that we also don't know where their money comes from or what they did after they got into office. Do you know who your mayor is? Your city council members? If you're average, probably not. However, those that fund the campaigns of the politicians have a vested interest in knowing whether they are getting their money's worth. Did you contribute to a campaign? Most folks don't. Either way, over sixty percent of those registered to vote, actually do vote. They simply never really knew much about who they were voting for. If voters see a non-partisan candidate endorse a Republican candidate for another office, the Republican voter assumes that that non-partisan candidate has Republican interests. They assume too much. In Rocklin, this is a big part of the problem. The Cabal, funded by those with serious monetary interests, enacts legislation and does things that are, in the least, inappropriate when seen through the lenses of the founding fathers. The Cabal is no more than a group of prostitutes for the rich and powerful, selling themselves for the crumbs of the rich and powerful.

The Cabal uses their non-partisan offices and titles to promote other Cabal members. Take the Doug Ose/Tom McClintock race. Why is the Cabal backing Ose when McClintock is the obvious conservative? Could it have anything to do with the Cabals love of eminent domain? The fact that they want the ability to give your property to somebody else so that the Cabal can profit from the transfer? Do you know what your City Council does for a day job? Do you know where they hold investments? Can you imagine how being on the inside track regarding Rocklin's future can be immensely profitable? If you sell the expansion of Hwy 65 and 80, can you imagine how that unleashed further development which, thanks to Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln's City Councils has already occurred prior to the necessary infrastructure being put in place?

I hate to interrupt. I know folks are too buys watching DVDs and following yard signs to the voting booth to have a responsible City Council. I suppose that the good, but do nothing people of Rocklin will finally do something the day they pry the DVD players from their cold dead hands. Perhaps the robocalls are making you a little restless. But, since folks are not bothering to look up the records of the Cabal or to learn anything real about the candidates, maybe that's the only way a candidate can get through our thick skulls. If this trend continues, I can imagine the fall of the Roman Empire repeating itself here in America, in California, in Placer County and finally in Rocklin, as the rest of the world gives our fall their blessing. They would be right about one thing. Our fall would be well earned. " We the people" enabled the Cabal and aren't doing a thing about it.

Certain questions must be answered before we can replace the Cabal with something better. What do members of it do? Where does their campaign money come from? I plan to show these figures for the upcoming election, right here with this article. I think you'll be unpleasantly surprised. Conflicts of interest? I'll let you decide. Oh, and if you're a Cabal family member, ask yourself if you too, have a conflict of interest?

    THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The concept of the chamber of commerce was once a noble idea. Over the years, they have altered my perception of them. I don't find the value I once might have. They have become a "quid pro quo" arm of the government. They are owned by America's major corporations and their value to small and micro businesses has been minimized. In Rocklin's case, they are another arm of the Cabal's marketing department. They help to elect those desirable to the rich and powerful. That's why Robin Trimble, while apologizing to me personally, never sent the letter of apology she said she would send. The Chamber sponsored a debate between John Doolittle and Charlie Brown, both of whom almost never showed up for the 20 or so forums presented around the District where the other candidates were showing up. They simply didn't get invited. The system, via the Chamber, was deciding who would be the next congressman without you. Again, remember that the Chamber has a "quid pro quo" relationship with the Cabal. They get to rent their brand new tax payer funded facilities for $1 month. This is not something you were informed about by the Placer Herald or the Sacramento Bee, or by any other major local media. Yours truly happened to stumble upon it while going through a search with another purpose. More recently, Robin Trimble, under the Placer Herald's section entitled "Chamber Corner," Rocklin View/May 2008, wrote as the CEO for the Chamber about the "wonders" of Whitney Ranch in "Whitney Ranch: Focus on Amenities." What does promoting a development have to do with the Chamber of Commerce? It was simply a marketing piece for Whitney Ranch Developers talking about the abundant trails and paths that connect to neighborhood parks and playing fields. She goes on to say, "With so many home styles, neighborhoods and activities to choose from, Whitney Ranch has something for everyone. She goes on to give prospective LA and San Francisco transplants directions and then to embellish the article with more sales points to help the developers further crowd our city streets. After all, she works for the Cabal, or indirectly, she lives at the pleasure of developers, whether she realizes it or not. Somebody ought to check into her financial records and look for connections. What does she do and what does her husband, if any, do? To add icing to the cake, she reminds us, "Nearby William Jessup University [a Cabal training center] and Sierra Community College offer a local college experience and lifelong learning opportunities. "Ya think"? Remember, the Chamber is an arm of the Cabal's marketing program. Ironically, these homes cater to the upper middle class. She even promotes the developer's and the .

    THE PRESS

The second marketing arm of the Cabal is the press. They are in so much financial trouble these days, that they'll say virtually anything to gain the support of Cabal and thereby they support of the rich and powerful. I understand that not all the rich and powerful support the Cabal. However, enough car dealers and developers do to bend the direction of those working in the Cabal. Unfortunately, these folks are all about skyscrapers and automobile sales. This is who the press works for and it is owned and controlled, in this area, by a member of that Cabal, Brehm Communications, which owns almost every newspaper between here and Lake Tahoe. In Sacramento, it is McClatchy News services. Suffering the Internet, newspapers have fallen upon hard times and will do just about anything to keep large paying advertisers for real estate and automobiles. These folks do such horrible things as publish government inflation rates without equivocation. (The government underestimates bad figures to make itself look good, to stop a panic and mainly so that it doesn't have to pay out more inflation indexed money to social security recipients.) You might say that the media is the mouthpiece of the rich and powerful in most instances. The Internet blogs have been about the only thing to keep the major media more honest. They hate being upstaged by some pip-squeak like me.

    THE CHURCHES

I like to joke that wherever there are three or more people together, there is at least one federal agent lurking in the shadows. The ministry of the local churches and William Jessup University, a Christian college, couldn't have done more to market the anti-christ were they actual CIA agents themselves. They tie together church and government to the best of their abilities the extent that a lot of their congregations and students are becoming sick of it. They've heard enough of Jesus' tantrum at the Temple used as justification to bomb civilians in Iraq. Some are finally seeing through the brainwashing and realizing that Jesus didn't carry an M16 in his right hand and a "bunker-buster" bomb in his left, much to the dismay of Adventure and Bayside Church propagandists. "We the people" may be slow, but we're not dead yet. We're Christians to lead a more Christ-like existence, I have no doubt the world would become a better place, albeit with no progeny to carry on.

    WE THE PEOPLE

Three things you can do to fix the situation:

  • State your Independence from Republican and Democratic "politics as usual" Get a registration from the Post Office and register "Decline to State." You can even call me at 435-9090 and I'll drive to your local home and give you one that you can send in. You'll be the party of you, yourself and you. For the first time, you'll be represented well.
  • Look up your incumbents' records via the City or County websites. It's the meeting minutes. Keep in mind that those that take the minutes work at the pleasure of the City Council and therefore, they won't be complete. Use the tapes if you want more granularity. Those that speak against the Council are seldom fully quoted unless they request it in the record.
  • Look up the candidates' campaign financing. The 460 statements are held at the Rocklin City Hall.
  • Then make sure you vote.

Nowhere could that be more true than here in Rocklin, California. Doug Ose came came to Clover Valley for a campaign visit and I wrote about it on 4/6/08
