Peter Hill, Rocklin City Council

Councilman Peter Hill has taken thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from developers and then voted in ways favorable to them. Rocklin is now overdeveloped at the taxpayers expense. Thanks to the current City Council developers get amenities paid for by taxpayers that they can then turn around, and with the City's and Chamber of Commerce's help, market to prospective buyers from Southern California and the Bay Area. I am not against developers, just against them buying my government.

It is important to understand that when you donate to a campaign, the money may not go to the candidate, but instead through the candidate to a charity or to another political campaign. You will see examples of this in this report. Giving the campaign money to very specific charities is also a political tactic often designed to win over specific voters. Your understanding of these tactics will give you a better idea of what a candidate is all about.

After a "cabal" member is elected, numerous subtle events occur insuring his reelection by the uninformed. Council meetings tend to host a plethora of awards to residents for their so-called contributions to the City. Boyscouts are invited to lead in "The Pledge of Allegiance." This is all in hopes of getting votes from them and their parents. It's all about money and power for the "cabal' and seldom for the benefit of the community. Right now, Rocklin is in trouble financially for spending too much money that went way beyond basic city services such as fire, police and roads. In the end, we are to blame for electing folks like Peter Hill to the City Council. Our financial mess is not an accident. It comes from years of pandering to campaign contributors. This can end if we the people learn to "stand tall."

About this Report
This report is designed to save you the time of driving down to City Hall to look at Peter's 460 statements on your own. There is more coming for the current election. A lot of Peter's contributors were written in so poorly that it was difficult to put in the correct spellings. This is also a way that can hide who the contributions came from. Research can be done to follow up on Peter's own career and investments as well as those of his major contributors. You'll will find their names repeated whenever a "cabal" member is running for office. Collectively, they have all but destroyed the City of Rocklin, both financially and as a community.

On the deceptively bright side, in 2005, Peter donated from his "Peter Hill for City Council Committee" campaign account the following:
  • American Cancer Society $100
  • Rocklin High School Boosters $125
  • Sportsman Legacy Foundation $100
Peter made $191 dollars in unitemized payments under $100.
His total payments made between 7/1/2005 and 12/31/2005 were $516 per his 12/31/2005 Schedule E filed with the City of Rocklin.
He paid back $1,000 that he loaned to himself early in his 2004 election campaign and no interest was paid to himself.

Michael Patrick Murphy's Conclusion:
Peter Hill is a direct result of a lazy, uninformed and irresponsible population. Being endorsed by the "cabal" is not a good thing for voters. You must look at the contributors and what Peter had done once he was in office. I would say Peter works for developers more than he works for the people of Rocklin. Based upon his "over $100" campaign contributions from developers I might even say that Peter Hill is "owned" by developers and builders trying to insure that their projects are favored. Most politicians will deny that they are "owned" by their campaign contributors and if you believe them, then I've got some land for sale at the bottom of the American River. "We the people" have to ask why so many developers and related industries give him contributions over $100? Look at his City Council voting record. We're I the District Attorney, I would look at an investigation into his personal finances and that relationship to his contributors. What are the chances of that happening when, in my opinion, the County District Attorney is a part of the cabal? What did Peter Hill do before he retired and became a councilman? These are all good questions as we see Rocklin becoming over developed while taxes rise and taxpayers foot the bill for over development.

Peter can also be seen at Doug Ose's rallies. Doug Ose IS a developer! Peter has also used his non-partisan office title to endorse Ose and other partisan candidates as part of the quid pro quo cabal centered in Placer County. Placer County and its Cities are now in deep fiscal trouble thanks to its incumbent office holders. That's why it is constantly seeking tax increases of all kinds and that's why we have more homes available than demand. Rocklin needs responsible government with a much better city council. This starts with constituents becoming more informed and responsible. We need independent non-partisan responsible candidates running for City Council that are not affiliated with the cabal and refuse to take the money from developers and other special interests.
